Cognitive Factory and Humanoid Robots: Enabling multi-robot-human joint action through multimodal cue fusion
Joint interaction and learning by demonstration is indispensable for effective human-robot scenarios. In our scenario, a humanoid robot will assist a human in an assembly task. To establish effective joint interaction, we plan to implement human-human cooperative strategies in the humanoid robot. [more]
High-Performance Visuomotor Control
A number of flying insects, e.g. Drosophila melanogaster and Calliphora vicina, possess photoreceptors with high temporal resolution, which they use for dynamic visuomotor pose and gaze stabilization, and navigation in 6 degrees of freedom. This project investigates fundamental principles of neurobiological visuomotor couplings of flys and bio-inspired technical solutions to visuomotor control. Emphasis is on fast sensorimotor control with high temporal sensitivity to facilitate fast navigation and interaction in complex dynamic environments. [more]
Cognitive Perception for every day manipulation
The project aims at the unification of computer vision and laser-based sensing in the CoP (Cognitive Perception) with learning and planning system (Knowledge4Cotesys, Cogito). On the one hand, CoP manages the interpretation of outputs of different kinds of sensors and on the other hand it automatically acquires and maintains the knowledge about the world and the objects therein. CoP selects sensors and data interpretation algorithms based on their expected utility. To this end, CoP learns and improves inter-sensor and inter-algorithmic models for methods selection from experience. The camera based vision system in particular (the mostly used one), provides several automatic model improving techniques. Improved models accelerate the perception process and thus significantly improve the robustness. [more]
Cognitive Perception for Everyday Manipulation Activities in Human Environment
The project aims at the unification of vision-based sensing in the CoP (Cognitive Perception) learning and planning system. On the one hand, CoP manages the interpretation of different kinds of sensors and on the other hand it automatically acquires and maintains the knowledge about the world and objects in the world.
